ABOUT US |
|
The Northern Nashville Country Music Club (NNCMC) was formed in 1987 to promote country music in Caithness. The club usually meet on the last Friday of the month in The Royal British Legion Clubrooms, Riverside Road, Thurso but occasionally the show date is changed to accommodate an artist. Club membership stands at approximately 150 at present but non-members and guests are equally welcome to attend any of the shows. The shows normally start at 8.00pm with the support artist followed by the main artist, each performing a cabaret spot. Each band will then do a further two dance spots. A number of International artists have appeared in the club including, from the USA, Highway 101, 'Country Legend' and star of the 'Grand Ole Opry' - Jean Sheppard and Heather Miles. Also Pinto Bennet and his Motel Cowboys, John Permenter, Terry Sumsion and Geordie West from Canada. Many of Britain and Ireland's top entertainers have appeared in the NNCMC. In the NNCMC people come first. The committee and members will go to any length to make guests, visitors and artists feel they are among friends. Visitors from Australia, America, Holland, Ireland, England, Wales and all areas of Scotland have enjoyed time spent in the NNCMC.
In 1994 it was decided to run the first annual Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival (NNCCMF), held over Easter weekend, which continues to go from strength to strength. |
