FESTIVAL 2013 - FEEDBACK

From the bands...

Christine & John
I am in New Jersey waiting for my connecting flight back home later this evening as we speak. I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know what a wonderful time we had there in your beautiful homeland and honored to be a part of your festival!

The whole committee has been absolutely wonderful to us and I just want to say a huge thank you to you both, Darryn, Isobel, and everyone else who made us feel so very welcome and took care of all our needs!

I have been told that the folks in Scotland are friendly folks, now I know first hand, this to be true! We were met with so many smiling friendly faces and made so many new friends while there.

Like I told you before, the whole experience couldn't have been more wonderful! You guys took the best care of us from our accommodation at the Station Hotel to Jim and William, our drivers...things were just perfect! It was wonderful to get to meet the radio folks that we have been in contact with and some new ones as well...thanks Christine for setting up the interviews for Bobby after Sunday's show. I have already heard from them that the request for Bobby's music is coming in and this is truly awesome!

We certainly hope you have a huge request to bring us back and play for you all again. We enjoyed so much being a part of your fabulous event and I know I speak for all the band with a big TEXAS THANK YOU!!!

We certainly look forward to hopefully being able to come once again and be a part of the Northern Nashville Country Music Festival there in Caithness!

Until then, let's stay in touch for sure.

Heart Of Texas Artists at Halkirk Country Music Festival

Halkirk, in the northeast tip of Scotland, might well be the most unlikely place you'd expect to hear the sound of Texas music yet it's now become part of the area's Easter weekend tradition.

Once again the Northern Nashville Country Music Club Festival bridged the 5000 mile gap between the two locations. The festival, now in its tenth year and run by committee of dedicated country music enthusiasts headed up by Christine Gray, is an extension of the NNCMC's monthly meetings (http://www.nncmc.co.uk). It took place at the Halkirk Indoor Riding Centre (March 29-31) and, for the third consecutive year, welcomed artists from the Heart of Texas record label.

This time around the highly enthusiastic audience - gathered from local towns, the islands, Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK - saw the debut British appearances of Kimberly Murray & Bob Manning and Rance Norton, backed by a five piece hot country swing band led by veteran singer/guitarist Tommy Hooker.

"It's now part of our annual schedule to play for the festival" said Tracy Pitcox, founder of the Brady, Texas based record label. "We get to spend a few, very enjoyable days here and love to bring our music to new audiences. The folks really seem to enjoy it as well, whether sitting down or letting loose out on the dance floor".

This year's artists presented a broad spectrum of Texas music, ranging from the traditional sounds of Tommy Hooker with a extensive repertoire of western swing material; Bob Manning and Kimberly Murray whose music merges the Bakersfield Sound with Texas shuffle, giving a performance that combined country classics with original material; and the label's newest signing, Rance Norton, already predicted to follow in the footsteps of such Lone Star legends as Ray Price, Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush.

We absolutely love the festival and what you guys do. You are absolutely top!
Again, thank you and all of your great support for the wonderful weekend and great friendship!!!

We would like to thank you for everything last weekend.
We had a great time being in Scotland and playing at the well organised Northern Nashville Country Music Festival.
It was a great festival which you have organised so well and with such good care.
The hotel was good, the food was delicious, the venue accommodation perfect, good sound engineers, great audience, nice people, etc.
Thanks to the committee members, all the people backstage, the sound guys, the bus boys, the hotel staff and of course the great audience.
You all felt like family and I hope we can come back to experience it all again.
We would like to thank you all for having us in Scotland and it was a pleasure to play for you all!!!
Thanks again, we'll keep in touch.
Warm regards,

"Well folks, we are finally home after our FIRST TOUR OF SCOTLAND!!! A little tired but still on an absolute high we started off in Banff & we moved on to Invergordon.
Things went from great to UNBELIEVABLE when we were given the honour of closing the Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival!
I have never experienced such a professionally organized festival in my career from stunning lights to fantastic sound, everything was a pleasure to top it all off the crowds were unreal & we were given a fantastic welcome.
There are so many people to thank for making this such a memorable experience Thank you to the organizers & committee of the festival for giving us the opportunity to be part of something so special and hopefully we can return there again soon."

We had a fantastic first tour of Scotland and the people were so welcoming and friendly. The festival was a highlight not only for the tour but for the band as a whole! Everything was so professionally put together that it was an absolute pleasure from the second we walked in the door. You really did do everything right and I don't mind telling you that there's not a festival promoter in Ireland that could lace your shoes!
The fact that the audience reacted so brilliantly to us was the icing on the cake and I can't wait to see how everything turns out for the TV.
I regret that we couldn't have been around to see more acts. I was sorry to miss Connie Smith (although I did see her perform and got to meet her at the Countryfest in Ireland) but at least I did get to see Bobby Flores and got to chat to him briefly..
Anyway, thanks for contacting me and please stay in touch. Myself and the boys look forward to playing up in your club sometime in the near future (then hopefully we can have that beer and a bit of craic lol) and we would be honoured to be a part of your future festivals anytime. Perhaps we'll see you over here at a show sometime!

Hope this message finds you well and please give our thanks and best wishes to the rest of the committee.

All the best
Jason

Thanks to all for making us so welcome once again and organising the interviews…I was glad I got to speak to Evi, she was lovely and I also enjoyed interviewing Connie Smith…both good for future progs….
We both enjoyed the Sat…
Thanks again Helen

What a great weekend - warm, friendly people and wonderful music. In fact the best country music I've heard since I was last in Texas. Many thanks for sorting things out for me in advance and the fine hospitality over the weekend. Please pass on my compliments to all involved - you've got a great team. I certainly intend to put the festival on next year's calendar.
And I not only got to enjoy the festival but also spent a little time sightseeing, especially John O'Groats - a place I've always wanted to visit.
Now back in Hertfordshire and, guess what, it's snowing again!
Best wishes, Tony Byworth

Hello Christine,

First of all, thank you for your hospitality once again this year.
The festival was a great success, and Tony Byworth told me he thoroughly enjoyed it and is putting it in his diary for next year .According to him, good country music and good malt whisky is a winning formula.
Once again thanks and all good wishes.

The team returned from Caithness on Monday evening exhausted but very pleased with the production. We're very much looking forward to getting started with the edit and creating another four hours of television!

We're glad that all went well on-site and appreciate the volume of work you and the committee undertake to accommodate our crew.

We'll be in touch.
Kind regards

I hope you are getting back to normal after a hectic weekend, and some months before preparing.
I just had to write and express my sincere thanks for what you, and your committee did for Zena when she was so disabled by tendon problems in her foot. The festival was the usual selection of excellent Country music from all over the world, but must be organised by the most friendly and welcoming group of people to ever organise a music event
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, thanks again.
Ian & Zena Greig

Hi really enjoyed our weekend travelled by motor home from Lerwick good company that was our 2nd year hope we can make it next year
Thanks first class Dave/Janette

Good Afternoon Christine & Ally

Many thanks for allowing me to come in out of the cold at festival. If I get too cold I am physically sick, and feel horrible for ages, so this was brilliant.
Thank you for all the hard work you and your boys and helpers put in to make the festival best in Britain, it's simply the best.
Thank you

Anne & John x

Christine, please pass on our thanks to all of your committee/members for all their hard work in producing another wonderful weekend of entertainment in Halkirk, really enjoyed it.
