FESTIVAL 2012 - FEEDBACK

From the bands...

Hi John

I hope you had a little rest the last couple of days.
I can imagine that you are very tired after a full week of hard work.
We just wanted to thank you again for the warm welcome, and the good organisation.
You have an awesome festival, one of the best we ever played.
We hope to meet you again in the future, till then take care. And give our love to all the others from the committee.
I hope we keep in touch.
Best regards,
Gerry (Terry White Band )

PS We also want to thank you for the great weekend; you were so kind and helpful. Hopefully we keep in touch and meet again some day.
Gerry - Terry White band

I would like to say THANK YOU on behalf of Frank, Joost, Ron, Jos, Paul and myself.
Thanks for inviting us, thanks for the wonderful accommodation,
In general : THANK YOU for a very memorable weekend in Thurso/Halkirk.
It was a great festival and a great crowd but it would not have been this good without you : a perfect organisation !!!
Again many thanks for all that you and your crew have done for us and we will be looking forward to the next time somewhere in the future.
Christine and John : THANK YOU Ashville

Hi John,
Just a short note to, not only thank you but to also congratulate you on a well run, excellently attended Festival. The whole staff's efforts go to make the Event a pleasure to work. My special thanks go to Paul (Monitor Engineer), George Dunnett, Christine and of course, yourself.
Greg Cooper

We just arrived back here at home this evening. Joey and I just wanted to take a minute to tell you what a wonderful time we had in Thurso and to thank you for bringing us to play at your festival. We can see how much work you've all put into making it what it's become and we were honored to be part of this year's events.
Everyone there was so nice to us and we loved watching all the people dance and enjoy themselves to our music and everyone else's. It's easy to see that the people up there love country music as much as we do.
Please pass our thank you on to all your board members and your staff that worked the festival. And do let us know if there's ever anything else we can do for you or the board there.

All the best,

RORY

We had a great time and once again thanks for booking the Brothers Band it was first class all weekend I hope we get chance again.
The music all weekend fist class so would like to take the opportunity to thank you and the committee of the Northern Nashville the best in the future.
Best regards Rob Petrie

Hi John

Debbie and I wanted to thank you again for having us on the Festival. We made a lot of new friends and really enjoyed your beautiful country. :) You all put on a first class show and we really appreciate your hospitality. I also appreciate you working with Third Coast Talent.
I have several artists that want to play your festival next year.
T.G. Moore & Moore

Hi Christine
Well what can I say? What a brilliant weekend yet again. There really was a great selection of country music for all ages and tastes! My personal favourite was Jerry Kilgore - what a fantastic front man of a fantastic band. He really has some brilliant songs that I loved hearing him play live. We had a wedding dance on the Saturday so unfortunately I missed Moe Bandy, and Joey + Rory - both I was really looking forward to hear!

I also need to say a huge thank you for allowing us to launch our CD at the festival. It made the weekend even more special to us and we will remember it for the rest of our career. The publicity and interest we received through launching the CD at the festival was brilliant and it wouldn't have been as successful had we done it anywhere else.

So again, a big thank you for all your help and please extends my thank you to the rest of the committee! We were really worried about our slot having heard so many horror stories about 'the hard shift' and 'the graveyard set' and so on. But I have to say that none of these stories came true, everyone stuck around, and we had the best year to date! I am excited for next year already and wish you and the committee the best of luck in organising (which will be) an even better festival yet. I don't know how it manages to get better every year, but it sure does!
Thanks again,
Mikie Chicken Pickers

Hi Christine, thanks a million for making last week-end happen , it was an unforgettable experience , it meant so much to myself and Mary B to have the boys over playing along with us, we couldn't believe how professional and well organised the whole show was, thanks Paul and Mary B

Nashville Union would like to thank Northern Nashville Country Music Club for another brilliant weekend festival.

Many thanks for another fantastic festival
O

Christine, just to say thanks a lot for your help with interviews and another great festival…..I just loved Johnny Rodriguez, he has an amazing voice and he put on a great show when I got home I took out his old albums to remind myself of the handsome guy he was…..I also thought Jerry Kilgore was very good…..had an e mail from my old friend who bought tickets especially for Johnny and she said he was just brilliant and loved his performance….I hope you had some good feedback about him…..Well done to you all in Thurso for organizing a great festival once again and good to meet up with everyone

A big thank you to you and all your group for another fantastic Festival. Both Pauline and I enjoyed it very much and we much appreciate the hospitality too. Loved all the acts that were on and especially the Americans who were there. Thanks again for a great weekend. Like all the others who were there we say "roll on next year".

Cheers

Ken

Christine
Thank you so much to you and all your colleagues - we had an absolutely great time - the event is extremely well organised, and we will definitely be back next year.

Is the event always held on Easter Weekend? (Reply to that is Yes!)

Debbie

Christine and Ally. Just arrived home. You and your committee will have had a busy day at Halkirk. What a wonderful weekend we have had we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole package of entertainers. No specials they were all fantastic in their own way. We would like you to pass on our thanks to all your committee for all the hard work once again in making the weekend the success it was. We have booked the hotel for 2013 Easter weekend. Keep on Keeping Country. Will try to get up to one of your club nights. Love to you both and many thanks yet again 7 happy people. Liz and Bill (Strichen) xx

Hi Christine & Ally
I expect you are just about getting back to normal now after what must be the marathon of weekend jobs. I felt I had to let you know how much we loved the festival, every act was different and yet every act was appreciated by all. I can't imagine where you get the information on foreign acts to know if they will be suitable for your crowd. But you do it every time. I hope the Caithness people are very proud of their young folk. I thought the Chicken Pickers were excellent and showed a maturity way beyond their ages. I bought their CD and it is first class, it is hard to believe they were a school band a few years ago. Brandon McPhee is going from strength to strength and branching out into guitar and singing. He is the most humble and gracious young man I have ever met, and a credit to his family and the people of Caithness.
I would not be honest if I forgot to mention one part of the show I didn't enjoy, and that was the painful level of sound for some acts. I do think the sound crew ruined Lisa McHugh, Simon Peters, and Moore & Moore. I have been around music long enough to know that a little left hand screw of the treble knob would have made all the difference.
It's not the fact that they didn't do it that annoys me, it's the fact that they didn't notice it was so wrong. I was so sorry for you and your committee, after all your hard work and attention to detail to make the festival such a success, the sound should be distorted to make country music sound like Lady Gaga.
I'm so sorry to have to tell you this, but I'm sure your committee has been around Country Music long enough to agree with me. Never mind, maybe Simon will have a hearing aid for next year and George will walk all the way down the hall to check the sound. Simple really.
Please pass on my grateful thanks to all, see you next year I hope.

Best Wishes
Ian Grieg

Thank You one and all for an excellent 2012 festival, we appreciate all the hard work that you all put in to make it such a high success, hope to see you next year.

Hi Christine

Very many thanks for all your help and co-operation re the Festival last week-end. It was our first experience of the event and hopefully it won't be the last! Unfortunately since we've come home my wife has been laid up in bed for a couple of days with flu!!

Mr Rodriguez is obviously a bit of a maverick and I'm sure you were glad he turned up and performed well. Jerry Kilgore impressed and Moe Bandy was excellent.

So now it's on to next year! Well, as I said, George Jones and Alan Jackson would do just fine!! John Conlee?? Connie Smith?? Marty Stuart??

Thanks again for all your help we really enjoyed ourselves.
Regards
Robert & Ann MacMillan

Christine & the Entire Crew
Thank You for a great fun wonderful time

A short note to say how much all the Skye contingent enjoyed our weekend at the 9th Annual Country Music Festival in Halkirk. Most of them are keen to come back up for next year's festival!!!
Once again it was a great weekend at the festival we met up with lots of old (and new) friends.
Have you decided on next years dates yet look forward to seeing you again soon and thanks very much for another wonderful weekend of music and friendship
Jim

I'm just back from our trip to Scotland which included Easter weekend with you at your excellent festival.
So, the first thing I said I must do is contact you and thank you for organizing such a wonderful Festival of Country Music we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pass on our thanks to you and all of your wonderful team for their hard work and meticulous organisation for what must have been weeks if not months of organisation and smooth running of such an excellent event over a long weekend. It really was first class.

I saw all of the acts I wanted to see and was pleased with the sound levels, access to speak to them and back-up bands. I have seen Moe Bandy many times, Joey + Rory twice and Moore and Moore once before but I was really looking forward to seeing Jerry Kilgore and Johnny Rodriguez and I think, like you, I was not disappointed.

I enjoyed the last night the most as Lisa McHugh really got the audience going with her set and Jerry Kilgore was top notch with my kind of country in his set and I've waited a long time to see Johnny Rodriguez and I thought he was magnificent if a bit hurried. I was standing near the front of the stage living every song and heard him say to his musical director "what's next" "miss that one" a couple of times and then to dash off at the end was a little disappointing, but only a little. His musical director was first class in his own right with a wonderful voice, equally wonderful harmonies and directing the unfamiliar back up musicians very professionally, a truly memorable night.

Thanks again Christine and regards to Ally we'll be back next year.

Kind regards

Gordon J Wilson
