  Christine Gray. Northern Nashville CMC.

There's a line from a Rusty Rierson country song "Souvenirs" that best sums up the emotions we have had in the passing away of our much loved Chairperson and dear friend Christine Gray.

We shed tears in our memory of what she had brought to the country music scene and indeed to our lives.

Memories of all the good times we shared in Northern Nashville Country Music Club and Festivals. We shed tears in remembering the visits to other clubs and festivals all over the UK, Ireland, America and many other places and countries that we did together.

Tears fill the eyes as we remember her for her in-depth knowledge of the artists and music we follow with passion, knowledge we will no longer be able to rely on.

There were tears remembering the laughs and fun we had on nights out and indeed nights in at her home where she wined (greatly!) and dined us so selflessly.

It's happy memories and feelings of what this special lady brought into our lives and our wider country music family. So the tears shed are for treasured moments that will forever remain with us as souvenirs of Christine. "Tears for Souvenirs"

Sadly missed; fondly remembered
She has left us now and we're sure the cherub harps will now have a country twang!

Given that we have a new committee in place I felt it was time I introduced them and at the same time updated our web site.

Over the years since it's inception in 1987 Northern Nashville Country Music Club (NNCMC) has built up a reputation as one of the most respected clubs on the country music scene, and has also gained the accolade for being one of the friendliest, a fact endorsed by artistes, guests and visitors alike. This could only have been achieved by the hard work and dedication of the committee, past and present, along with the continued support of our members.

Our club normally meets the last Friday of the month in the The Royal British Legion Clubrooms, Riverside, Thurso. Doors open at 7.00pm, the support band starts the entertainment at 8.00pm followed by the main act. Both do a short cabaret spot followed by two dancing ones.

Sadly in today's climate many clubs up and down the country have been forced to close their doors, however NNCMC continues to grow, introducing our members to all genres of country music and showcasing top acts.

In 2004 we took a gamble and ran our first ever Northern Nashville Caithness Country Music Festival (NNCCMF), which thankfully was a great success. Over the years it has gone from strength to strength, with country music fans converging on Caithness over Easter Weekend to be part of this 3-day 5-show extravaganza of live country music. This is truly an international event featuring top class acts from the USA, Canada, Europe, Ireland and the U.K. alongside our wealth of local talent and youth bands. In recognition of the success of our event, we were awarded Festival of the Year 2014 at the British Country Music Awards - such an honour.
